The brief

What we were asked for

A restaurant site that sells the food. Big photography, a menu that is easy to read on a phone, and ordering that does not send the customer to a third-party app that takes a cut.

The challenge

What made it difficult

The constraints that shaped every decision after them.

  • Food photography is heavy, and the site still had to load fast on mobile data.
  • The menu changes, so it could not be baked into the page templates.
  • Local search visibility mattered more than any other channel.

What we built

How we solved it

The decisions that mattered, and why we made them.

01

Image-led without the weight

Modern image formats, responsive sizes and static rendering keep the pages fast despite full-bleed photography.

02

A menu the kitchen controls

Menu content is data, not markup, so prices and dishes change without a deploy.

03

Ordering that keeps the margin

Direct online ordering rather than a marketplace listing, so the commission stays in the business.

04

Local SEO done properly

Structured data, opening hours, location signals and content aimed at the searches that actually convert.

The outcome

Where it got to

  • A site that loads immediately on a phone outside the restaurant.
  • Menu updates take minutes and need no developer.
  • Orders arrive direct instead of through a platform taking a percentage.
