The brief
What we were asked for
Take the ordering platform we had already proven and re-cut it for coffee: sit-in customers scanning a code at the table, walk-in customers ordering ahead so the cup is poured as they arrive, and a barista who never leaves the group head.
The challenge
What made it difficult
The constraints that shaped every decision after them.
- Drinks are all customisation — milk, syrup, shots, size, decaf, extra hot — and the pricing has to follow.
- A table order and a collection order are the same transaction with different promises about time and place.
- Peak-hour throughput means the barista screen has to be readable at a glance from a metre away.

Option groups designed for drinks
Milk, syrup, shot count, size and temperature modelled as priced or free option groups, so a flat white with oat and an extra shot prices itself correctly.

Table QR and order-ahead in one flow
Per-table codes pre-fill the table number for sit-in, including pavement tables; collection orders are timed so the drink is fresh on arrival.

A barista board, not a kitchen printer
Large type, ordered by promised time, single-tap completion — designed to be read across the bar.

Shop-branded domains
Every shop gets its own subdomain automatically, with custom domains provisioned on request.
The outcome
Where it got to
- A complete vertical launched from a proven platform in a fraction of a ground-up build.
- Shops keep their own branding and domain rather than being listed inside someone else’s app.
- The same architecture now serves food trucks, restaurants, coffee shops and holiday parks.
